- DescriptionSocketed copper alloy axe-head, dating to the Bronze Age. One of a hoard of 8 socketed axe-heads found after ploughing, near Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, in 1907. The axe has three ribs and a pronounced collar at the upper end. The cutting edge is slightly fanned. There is a loop which has a large vane of waste material derived from the casting process.
