Description
Socketed copper alloy spear-head dating to the Bronze Age, found in Kilcot Wood, Newent, Gloucestershire, about 1854. A leaf shaped blade with two lateral loops through base of the blade. Identified from original sketch in portfolio of drawings at British Museum, made at the time the object was exhibited at the Society of Antiquaries in London. At the time the object was owned by Mr John Irving. The sketch has the following annotation: 'spearhead and celt found about 1854 in the Kilcot Wood, Newent, Glos. John Irving Esq.'
