Description
Jardiniere decorated with plant motifs in brown, green and blue glazes. Made by Burmantofts Pottery (Wilcock & Co.). the technique of using moulding to create a raised pattern which was painted in majolica colours sometimes hand-finished with incised designs was known as parti-coloured ware and was very popular in the 1890s. Burmantofts made a lot of large pots in a variety of styles: Art Nouveau, Renaissence, and some like this one in Anglo-Persian style.
