My dear Miss Walker
Thank you ever so much for your letter & the enclosures which I return. How difficult things be! I had sent on your E.W’s[i] letter to Mr. Ricardo asking him also to consider the secretaryship and I did not know any arrangements had been made. Of course they acted for what they thought would be the best, just as I did about the added names to the list of people to be invited but things will happen so awkwardly!
If you could have confirmed in the old way: that is if the work had not proved so impossibly hard: that is what I should have liked. After all we can never thank you enough for what you have done.
[Miss Rope/Rose], I am quite touched, I wish she wouldn’t; or I shd be delighted if we could pull put her on committee as E. W. suggests. About Mr. Soper my feeling is that we hardly ought to accept his gift. Please thank your father for his letter. Mrs [Abbey] did call and talk about the scheme, I am rather too old for hopes & doubt if I ought to try to go [in] body
God bless you.
Yours sincerely
W R Lethaby[ii]
