Beschreibung
Axehead, a neolithic polished stone axehead found at Andoversford, Gloucestershire. The cutting edge is broad and well rounded and the sides taper in to form a narrow butt end. Just beyond the middle their is a distinct waisting of the implement. The axe has a symmetrical cross-section. Made from a fine-grained dark, grey stone, which has been identified as a slate, although the source is unknown. From the collection of George Backhouse Witts.
