Pressed tinplate (?toffee) commemorative box, with hinged lid. Made in England. Depicts two Antarctic scenes and five head and shoulders images of the members of the South Pole party (Capt. R.F. Scott, Capt. L.A.G. Oates, E. Evans, P.O., Dr E.A. Wilson, and Lieut. H.R. Bowers). The Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913).

On the way / back Evans died first, from frostbite and exhaustion, / then Oates made his gallant exit, and on March 29th / 1912 Scott entered the final comment in his diary.
