Letter from The Clarendon Press, Oxford to Emery Walker dated 24th September 1908. Found in ‘The Survey of London’ by John Stow The Clarendon Press Oxford Sept 24 1908 My dear Sir, Many thanks for your kind words about Stowe[i], which shall be passed on to Mr. [Doll[ii]] when he gets back from Harrogate. From what I have been told we owe you our best thanks for the map; I can see it is a great work. I remain Yours very [unreadable] [L. Lennan[ii]] Emery Walker Esq [Footnote: [i]Though the spelling is slightly different, this is probably a reference to the author John Stow, inside whose book this letter was stored. It was reprinted in two volumes by The Clarendon Press in 1908. [ii]The writing on the original is unclear and a basic Internet search about this book and the Clarendon Press has not shed any light on the identity of these 2 people. CAW]
