Description
Commemorative plaque in ash stained black and carved lettering by Bryant Fedden, commemmorating the opening of the extension to the museum in 1989. Fedden and the director of the museum George Breeze discussed the design and devised a system of free lettering in capitals for names and upper and lower case for other text. Incorporated into the design is the roundel motif from the clergy seat of 1914 by Ernest Gimson and Robert Weir Schultz for Westminster cathedral, which is used as the museum's logo.
