Description
Part of a neolithic polished stone axehead found at Andoversford, Gloucestershire. The cutting edge is rounded, the butt end seems to have been broken away then roughly re-worked. Made from a very dark stone, which has been identified as porcellanite, provenanced to Tievebulliagh, Northern Ireland, petrological Group IX. From the collection of George Backhouse Witts.
