Description
About half of a neolithic or bronze age "Thames Pestle" type stone macehead found at Eycot Wood, Rendcomb, Gloucestershire. An elegantly fashioned object made from a polished greenstone provenanced to Cornwall, petrological Group I; broken through a cylindrical shaft-hole. The surviving hammer head end is rounded with a small flattened area. The thin section has been cut from near the perforation and has been refilled.
