Description
Copper alloy, gilt, saucer brooch. Front with central boss and ring, 'double-outline' five-point star surrounded by three plain rings. Back with pin holder and catch plate, also part of iron spring attached. Leather and possibly textile fragments also present on back. Found on back at left shoulder of Burial 1, an adult, at an Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Lower Farm Bishops's Cleeve, Gloucestershire. Excavated by Kenneth Brown of Cheltenham Museum in July 1969.
