Description
Medieval floor tile, earthenware, inlaid decoration with yellow and brown glaze. Fragment from a square tile incorporating a number of letters of the alphabet, most visible now is an 's'. Probably 14th century in date from Hailes Abbey, Gloucestershire, although may have been manufactured in Worcestershire. British Museum Eames catalogue design no.1177.
