Description
An 8 day clock, manufactured by Zenith (Switzerland), mounted on a square wooden block. The inscription, engraved on the attached metal plaque, states that it was made from a portion of broken rudder from the Discovery. The clock/mount is supported by a brass hinge at the back. It seems possible that the wood for the mount came from the Discovery's rudder that was reported to be shattered on 24 Feb 1904 and which had to be replaced (24-25 Feb 1904) with the spare rudder that was on board.
