Description
Book entitled 'The Adventures of The Black Girl in Search For Her God' by George Bernard Shaw. Illustrations engraved and designed by John Farleigh. Published by Constable & Company, 1932. First edition December 1932. One of two copies in the archive. The story involves a young girl who has been converted to Christianity. She sets out on a journey to literally find God and speak to him. On the way she meets several Muslim and Judaeo-Christian deities. She sets about disposing them with great skill using her Knobkerry club. Bernard Shaw uses the black girl and her series of adventures to broach theological and sociological discussions in an interesting manner. From the library belonging to Emery Walker.
