Description
Carving by William Simmonds in ivory of four pigs asleep. This piece is very small and reflects Simmonds' interest in the Japanese carvings known as netsuke, which were designed to be the toggle of small containers that Japanese men and women wore at their waists. Netsuke carvings are usually very small but with very intricate detail, and Simmonds' echoes that this piece.
