Description
Two brass candle sconces with pierced and chased decoration, both designed by Ernest Gimson, one made by Alfred and one by Norman Bucknell. Sconces were made regularly, to commission, for exhibition or for stock. They were produced in a variety of patterns and the acorn and oak leaf motif was a popular version. The work was relatively straightforward and was often carried out by apprentices under the supervision of Bucknell or one of the other experienced blacksmiths.
