Portrait of Jane Miller, the artist's daughter, in the pose of a sphinx. Made of limewood on a macassar ebony and walnut stand by Alec Miller. Miller said of the piece, 'At the RA this piece was so popular that people stroked down her back until the carving was filthy and I got permission twice to go to the RA early and give her a bath!'
