Description
Carpet sample of two-ply wool/nylon pile on jute backing in diamond pattern designed by Marian Pepler for the Burghley Room of the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London. Pepler was the design consultant for the room, and chose a scheme with walls panelled in Amerciam black walnut and brown Thai silk, and a burnt orange ceiling. The rug shows the early use of nylon pile for the carpet, as it was hard-wearing.
