Stainless steel cylindrical 'Home Safe' issued by Midland Bank Ltd., No. 494189. Slits along the sides of the drum are the correct sizes for a halfpenny, penny, sixpence and half-sovereign, shilling, half-crown, notes. Beneath each slot, a notched and numbered scale shows the saver the amount saved. A keyhole is sited on the top of the drum with the bank's name. Safe is kept in its cardboard outer presentation case. Within, a circular card disc from Midland Bank encourages owner to save, have the safe emptied regularly by the bank and deposit contents in bank account. c.1950s.
