Private press book entitled 'Sartor Resartus, The Life And Opinions Of Herr Teufelsdroeckh' by Thomas Carlyle. Published by the Doves Press, 1907. The term 'Sartor Resartus' means the tailor re-tailored. The book examines the ideas of a German philosopher called Diogenes Teufelsdrockh, who has the belief that everything can be explained in terms of clothes. The book is a mix of fact and fiction and was intended to be both serious and satirical. Although it is not stated the copy must have been taken from the first edition of 1831, as this is the date in the front of the book. This copy was given by Emery Walker to his daughter Dorothy Walker. From the library belonging to Emery Walker.
