Writing cabinet with burr elm veneer on a mahogany and oak carcase designed by Ernest Gimson and made by Harry Davoll. Both Gimson and Waals designed a number of veneered pieces which exploit the contrasting colour and texture of different timbers, in this case burr elm with macassar and black ebony.
