My dear Walker
Many thanks for your cheque and for sending on Frank Pryor’s[i] interesting letter. My wife would very much like a proof of the portrait when it is ready.
I was sorry not to be able to come to the Guild committee yester on Friday last week, but I was away in the North making a tour of shops. I have only just returned this evening, which accounts for your letter, which I see is dated the 24th, remaining sadly unanswered, as I had nothing forwarded to me whilst I was away. I had some fairly cold travelling […..], Northumberland and the Lake District, but nice bright weather.
Ever yours
[CHStJ] Hornby[ii].
I am sending you another ‘Utopia’. Many thanks for the [order]

[i]A basic Internet search has failed to identify Frank Pryor conclusively.
