Patchwork bedcover or quilt made by Miss Jane Pizar in Ireland, made between 1810 and 1860. The hearts and doves suggest this was probably a bedcover. It appears to have been used, but never backed. The pieces have been inlaid and joined on the wrong side by hand-stitching. Originally a full-size paper pattern may have been made. the shapes may have been drawn with geometrical instruments or created with folding paper. Each would have been numbered before cutting out and making up in numerical order. The cover may have been influenced by Pennsylvanian German work.
