Certificate of Burial in Sheep's Wool
A certificate verifying that Elizabeth George of the parish of Boddington, Gloucestershire, was buried in sheep's wool only, in the year 1684. Paper mounted on two layers of board, printed in black ink and illustrated with a skull and crossbones, a skeleton holding a wooden shovel and a body in a woollen shroud. The certificate has been completed on behalf of Richard George and signed by William Durnan, vicar, with the signatures and wax seals of two witnesses.
