An advertisement for the Montpellier Baths, Bath Road, 'adjoining Mr Thompson's Cheltenham Salts Manufactory'. Illustrated with a view of the new building, it describes the range of bathing experiences available, with prices. Originally callled Thompson's Baths, they were opened by Henry Thompson, the developer of Montpellier, in 1806. Cheltenham Salts were manufactured from about 1810. In 1898 Cheltenham Borough Council bought the baths and redeveloped them into a public swimming pool. Since 1945 the building has housed the Playhouse Theatre.
