Earthenware bowl with green speckled glaze and slip-trailed decoration, made by Ray Finch at Winchcombe Pottery, circa 1948. Here the standard glaze, which usually gives a yellow appearance, has been reduced in firing by the atmosphere of the kiln to create a greenish glaze. It is unsual in a bottle-kiln firing which normally creates an oxidising atmosphere.
