Thrown and turned earthenware vase with white slip-trailed decoration by Ray Finch. Finch recalls that his early attempts for slip-trailing produced a fountain-like pattern, like on this vase, which inspired Michael Cardew to produce his own version. This pattern was later used to decorate the large rose bowls that have become known as 'fountain' bowls.
