Set of 12 doilies made from woven silk/linen damask, designed by Walter Crane. The set, entitled 'Flora's Retinue', was originally accompanied by an undated booklet, 'Note on a tablecloth designed by Walter Crane for John Wilson & Sons' with a commentary by Lewis F Day. They were available in white or in assorted colours at 18/6d. Crane designed wallpapers, fabrics, carpets, ceramics and tiles for a number of different companies although he is best known as an illustrator of children’s books.
