Framed tile panel designed by A Masson. It consists of 7 tiles depicting the 7 ages of man as described by Shakespeare: Ye Infants, Ye Schoolboye, Ye Lovvers, Ye Soldyer, Ye Justice, Ye Leane & Slipper'd Pantaloone, Ye Seconde Childhood'. The panel was exhibited by Howell & Jones, a London retailer, in their first Annual Art Pottery Exhibition in 1876. Howell & Jones sold tiles blanks for amateur painters, encouraging sales by exhibiting the results. Masson's work probably fits into this category, particularly as the glaze finish on the tiles varies.
