Earthenware cider jar two-thirds covered with painted slip under a clear glaze, made by Lewis Groves at Taena Pottery, about 1950. The Taena Community was started by a group of socialists and pacifists in 1940 with the aim of living on a communal basis. Lewis Groves worked with Margaret Leach at her Barnhouse Pottery in Chepstow between 1946-7, and joined Taena the following year.
