Clock, face framed in brass and in an oak frame decorated in beech, ebony and elm veneers depicting a ship at sea. Designed by C R Ashbee and probably made by the Guild of Handicraft. Ashbee seems to have adapted the shape from similar pieces by Voysey in about 1895. The decorative motif of a galleon in full sail was one of Ashbee's favourite symbols, representing the 'craft of the guild'.
