Rectangular macassar ebony picture frame with Greek key motif designed by Ernest Gimson. D.W. Herdman acquired this frame at the Gimson sale in 1941 in fragments, and it seems likely that it was handed over to Herdman by the auctioneers along with the drawings he rescued. Eight years later he asked Harry Davoll to reconstruct and repair it, which was done at a cost of £2.5.0 (15 hours at 3s).
