English walnut sideboard with a plate stand, made from the same tree as the table 1971.43. Designed by Ernest Gimson and made by Ernest Smith and Percy Burchett in 605 hours. The sideboard cost £47.8.0 and the plate stand cost £13.6.0. There are several surviving drawings and letters about this piece and the table which was made to match. The client was Allan Tangye, who also commissioned fire-irons and other pieces from Gimson.
