English oak umbrella stand with several slots and wrought steel tray. It was designed by Peter Waals for Arthur Mitchell. Mitchell commissioned and acquired a large number of items by Waals for his house, Glenfall House in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham. This piece was probably used in a downstairs ladies lavatory.
