Figure of a thrower modelled in stoneware made by Robert Wallace Martin. Made to accompany the figure of a bench boy (1982.1224) and a wheel boy. Robert Wallace Martin trained as a stonemason and then worked as a sculptor's assistant. He designed most of the Martin Brothers pottery and decoration, although from the 1880s he began to concentrate more on modelling.
