Spoon of hammered silver designed and made by George Hart. Spoons were not usually designed on paper but were made up in the workshop according to the materials on hand and the whim of the maker. The fi-shaped bowl and acorn knop were common in the 16th century when spoons were the main item of cutlery and people carried their own around with them.
