Knife with wooden handle. The handle with a ball-shaped pommel and guard; the blade is flat and unsharpened, the upper end is parallel-sided while the lower end expands to form a spatulate end with a cross-shaped perforation. The register states this is an executioner's knife, this seems unlikely given the unsharpened nature of the blade. It is more likely to be of ceremonial or ritual use. Probably from Ghana. Collection of Captain Robert Powley Wild.
