Dagger and sheath from northern Nigeria, of Hausa manufacture. The dagger with arch-shaped steel pommel with narrow hand-grip and shoulders covered in decorated leatherwork. Wooden sheath covered with decorated leatherwork and a solid oval-sectioned terminal. The upper part of the sheath is plain, below this is a dark zone with punched and incised decoration and below this red, brown and green leatherwork. Collected by Lieut Col Robert L. Beasley DSO between 1901 and 1906.
