Dagger and sheath from northern Nigeria, of Hausa manufacture. The dagger with arch-shaped steel pommel with narrow hand-grip and shoulders covered with plaited leatherwork. Wooden sheath with a solid oval-sectioned terminal. The central part of the sheath has dark leather covering with tooled decoration, above and below this are zones of reptile skin. Collected by Lieut Col Robert L. Beasley DSO between 1901 and 1906.
