Arm dagger and scabbard from northern Nigeria. The pommel is of 'horned' form with short hand-grips and sloping shoulders covered in leather with incised decoration. The steel blade tapers to a sharp point and has longitudinal grooving. At the upper end of the scabbard is a loop of leather which attached the scabbard to the arm. This is decorated with panels of leatherwork using plaiting, stitching and incised decoration. At the lower end is a solid terminal of oval section. Collected by Lieut Col Robert L. Beasley DSO between 1901 and 1906.
