Arm dagger and scabbard from northern Nigeria. Polished wooden handle with discoidal, turned pommel and a hand-grip which flares out to form shoulders. Plain steel blade tapers to a sharp point. At the upper end of the scabbard is a loop of plaited leather which attached the scabbard to the arm. The wooden scabbard is covered with decorated leather and reptile skin, and terminates in a circular leather 'button'. Collected by Lieut Col Robert L. Beasley DSO between 1901 and 1906.
