Indian Talwar, 18th - 19th century, OAL 863mm. Blade: steel, L. 744mm, very fine, plain, heavily curved, single edged, no ricasso, possibly Persian. Hilt: steel, Indo-moslem style, long cross guards, langets with fleur-de-lis terminals, bellied grip, saucer pommel, ornamented dome and button. Small hole through button. All with floral and foliate design in applied silver with gold highlights, much worn. Scabbard: wood core covered with brown velvet. Traces of braid on seam. Two ferrules with swivel hanger rings. Chape decorated as hilt. Much wear and damage.
