Robert Wallace Martin (potter)

Figure of a bench boy, slab built and modelled salt glaze stoneware made by Robert Wallace Martin. Made to accompany the figure of a thrower (1982.1223) and a wheel boy. Robert Wallace Martin trained as a stonemason and then worked as a sculptor's assistant. He designed most of the Martin Brothers pottery and decoration, although from the 1880s he brgan to concentrate more on modelling.
