Bill Thornton (maker), Charley Downer (maker)

Tongs in wrought iron by Thornton and Downer, Chipping Campden, 1920-30s. Thornton and Dowler joined the Guild of Handicraft in London and loved to Chipping Campden in 1902. They stayed on, and after World War I they made small domestic items which they sold directly through the workshop and through Russell and Sons Lygon range.
