Title
Cardboard Box - Ayris, Costumier, Dressmaker and Furrier, Cheltenham, 20th Century
Description
A rectangular brown cardboard box, with a removable cardboard lid printed with the details of the women's clothing retailer Ayris, used to transport items such as hats and furs to customers. The script on the lid reads "Ayris Costumier Dressmaker and Furrier Promenade Cheltenham". The lid is also embossed with the Cheltenham town crest and has a paper address label and a stamp from the reign of George V (1910-1936). Written on the label is the address "Miss Fitch, Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire" and " By Post. 31/5/27". Also on the label is written "Historical Dolls", implying that the box later found a secondary use.
